We started today by storing photos online. I chose Google photos and found an interestingly vivid picture. This picture is free and downloadable from here. To find it, I ran a basic search and my keyword was Psycho.
My new PhotoShop site is located here. Currently it is not permitting me to do anything, and the initial verification email has not appeared yet.
For next week, we are to complete a lesson plan utilizing at least one of the previous projects attempted and studied thus far. Lesson plan document and any other information supporting said plan.

IEP comparison of Lowest Per Capita States

Today we worked on creating a bar graph from Kidz Zone. My bar chart is shown above using data from NAEP State Profiles.
This Kidz Zone page is an awesome way to get creative with data that students may have to cipher through while doing some tasks in their classes which under normal circumstances would be quite mundane. I think using this tool will help to encourage students to worry less about the arbitrary data gathering techniques and instead relate to the material via visual representations.
We also worked on using a Venn diagram to demonstrate some graphical data. The Venn diagram I used is from Crappy Graphics. You can view my Venn Diagram here.

WV vs Nation on NAEP Math 4th grade scores
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pvRr9t7KIH5BaA_L21HOOSw
Here's my chart showing the national average versus West Virginia's average on the NAEP scores for 4th grade math. I want to try to adjust the scale to show the differences better, but haven't been able to find the "adjust scale" option in Google Docs.

Intel Teaching tools
I am learning how to use some new teaching tools provided free by Intel. They are quite interesting and so far can be helpful.

Here is the link to my adolescence shown in full color on my new Photostory project. Please feel free to view and post any helpful comments, especially if you would prefer a different song or titles for each picture.

So what in the world? Fractions of JP???
Why in the world would I choose a blog with a title like that? To be perfectly honest, I am a nerd. I actually enjoy mathematics, as well as teach it. I am especially fond of fractions, since they always get a bad "rap" from students. I hope to change that.
